When God feels silent: learning to trust in the waiting.

There are times in our lives when it feels like God is silent. Is it because of something we did, or is it because God doesn’t have anything to say to us?
Are we just too distracted to hear God’s voice?
I feel like God’s voice is kind of like the manna that the Israelites ate; it comes when you need it, and it needs to be refreshed with the word of God each day.
Maybe God feels silent because our Bibles are always closed.
The silence of God is not something that only you and I feel. David speaks about it in Psalms 13: “How long will thou forget me, O LORD? forever? How long will thou hide thy face from me?”
let’s talk about it…
What you should do:
- Pray. Talk to God, tell him how you feel like David did in the Psalm.
- Trust God. Know that God is still in control, even if he appears to be silent; we won’t leave or forsake you.
- Read the Word
The bible is the word of God, and he will speak to you through his word.
Remember:
You are his child, and he loves you even if he is silent.
He always knows best, even if it doesn’t make sense. He can teach you to trust him through his silence. I find Job 34:29 comforting: “If he is silent, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, who can see him?”
It’s just a season, and it doesn’t mean that you are doing something wrong.
It is ok if God is silent, spend time with him in silence, and learn to be content with just being in his presence.
Just because you can’t hear God does not mean he is not with you.
Be patient. He will speak to you in due time.
You don’t need to hear God with your strength

What not to do when God feels silent
It’s easy to lean on ourselves whenever God feels silent, but it’s not what we should do. I have done this and it didn’t really go to good.
Instead, we should be patient and trust God because he holds our lives in the palm of his hands.
Next steps:
- Be honest with God, tell him how you feel
- Keep on reading your bible
- be patient
If you have a hard time trusting God, then get to know his character. You will realize that he is trustworthy.
Write down all the times that he has helped you overcome a problem.
