this article is all about how to start seeds indoors.
how to know what kind of seeds to buy
well can’t I just buy seeds according to the vegetable that I want? I mean obviously if you want tomatoes you need to buy tomato seeds. but I’m talking about non-GMO, organic, heirloom, or hybrid. so, let’s talk!
Frist what are the differences?
heirloom vs hybrid, A hybrid is a cross between to different species of plants, so let’s say we plant hybrid tomato seeds then we would get that kind of tomatoes but if you save the seeds from those tomatoes and plant them you will get a different type of tomato, so if you want to save the seeds you need to make sure they are heirloom.
non-GMO means they are not genetically modified, you want to buy seeds that are labeled non-GMO. I prefer to get organic; this means they are not sprayed with chemicals.
how to start seeds indoors
here’s how I started my seeds indoors; it is super easy!
step one! get some planting pots preferably with holes at the bottom for soil drainage, fill them with potting soil and water them.
step two! poke holes in the soil with your finger about 1/4 inch deep, then drop a seed in each hole and fill the hole with soil, make sure to water them every time they are almost dried out, about once a week! then place them inside of a window so that they can get sunlight. and that’s it!
then you can plant them in your garden after a few weeks!
